Our Team in Wales
David Sully - Welsh Branch Manager
Having been in manufacturing management in the paper and packaging industry for 19 years, I finally realised how boring making cardboard boxes was and, after studying at the Centre for Alternative Technology, joined Southern Solar earlier this year. Working for Southern Solar and building up the Welsh branch provides a rewarding opportunity to make a difference not only to the environment but also to people’s quality of life by alleviating fuel poverty.
Outside of work I enjoy spending time with my wife , two boys and my dog. A welsh man born and bred, supporting Welsh rugby is a statutory passion of mine. Otherwise I will be found in the garden dry stone walling, chopping logs or socialising with friends.
Caroline Summers - Sales Support Coordinator
Having grown up in the Welsh countryside I’ve always had a passion for the environment. Now I’ve finished my Masters in sustainability, it’s great to be part of this new exciting time for Southern Solar as they move into Wales.
Outside of work a lot of my time is spent either on the tennis court playing for my local club or out and about enjoying the Welsh countryside with friends and family. I’m also a very sociable person and enjoy a good night out reliving the student lifestyle!
Bryn Lewis - Installation Team Leader
“I joined the Hereford Branch permanently in June 2009 but moved to the Welsh branch in August 2010 to be their Installation Team Leader. Working for Southern Solar has allowed me to pursue an enthusiasm for renewables whilst expanding my knowledge beyond my trade as a plumber. It’s great to be a member of the new Welsh team and I look forward to playing my part in helping this branch grow and building a strong team around me.
In my spare time I enjoy walking my dog, dinner parties with friends, and helping out the local scout troop as a scout leader. I’m also a keen traveller and like to combine it with outdoor activities such as skiing. “
Andrew Kay - Installation Team Member
Andrew made a choice after passing his first year of his Mechanical Engineering degree at Cardiff University to turn his back on academia and do something more practical. He joined a carpentry and joinery firm and completed his apprentiship whilst working on projects as diverse as renovating historic shop fronts in Cardiff to working on the Dr Who set. On completing his apprentiship he left to set up his own business that involved him in specialised carpentry projects, glazing green oak frames and making grand oak staircases in conjunction with CADW. Andrew joined Southern Solar earlier this year where he aims to develop his engineering knowledge of solar energy and combine this with the practical skills he has acquired in order to grow within the company.
Outside of work Andrew enjoys renovating cars, skiing, tennis, flying traction kites, live music and film. He is a keen carp angler and hopes to compete at a national level next year.
Richard Coleman - Installation Team Member
After splitting the last 10 years of my life between railway engineering and travelling the world I decided to delve into the world of electrics. I joined southern solar as it is a respectable company, in an exciting new industry and at the same time helping the environment. I am very happy to be a part of the new welsh branch (team Cymru) as there is a great attitude amongst the team and a friendly atmosphere.
In my free time I enjoy Surfing, mountain biking and pretty much anything that involves the great outdoors.
